FAQ

Buchanan First United Methodist Church

a church with the eyes, heart and hands of God

Welcome to our website! Thank you for your interest — and I hope to see you soon!

My Name is Rob McPherson, and as the pastor of First United Methodist Church I am glad that you are interested in our church.  In the over eight years that I have been here, I have found this congregation to be filled with prayerful, spiritual, and servant-minded people. We truly try to be a church with the eyes, heart and hands of God, as we proclaim Jesus as Savior, nurture spiritual growth, and offer avenues for serving God through the body of Christ. Below are some of the frequently asked questions that we receive.

When is your worship and what style is it?

10am — Worship Service.

Our worship service on Sunday morning is truly a blend of styles. We have a live praise band and pipe organ. Dress is informal. We use some traditional elements like the Lord’s prayer, but also use creative elements to help us feel the touch of God.

Nursery and children’s worship are provided.

Ten to fifteen minutes prior to worship, we often begin with a hymn sing, or music by the praise band. If you really like music and singing, come early to help get you in the spirit of worship!

Do you offer Sunday School and/or small groups?

We have Sunday School for all ages beginning at 8:45am.  There is a preschool class for infants and toddlers, classes for elementary and middle school aged kids, and an adult class for those interested.  In addition there are several small groups for adults that meet for continued growth and fellowship.

Where can I park?

The parking in our church lot is quite limited and much of it is reserved for handicapped; however, you are welcome to use the city parking lots across the streets.  They are available and free for your use!

Is your facility handicapped accessible?

Our entry, sanctuary and fellowship hall are handicapped accessible by the use of a full size elevator.  We also offer assistive listening devices, and can print large-print bulletins for those who need them.

Do you do weddings and/or funerals for non-church members?

Yes, you do not need to be a member to access any of our services, and as the pastor I am even willing to make hospital calls to those who are non-members.  Please call the office for more details!
