Prelude

Enjoy this beautiful piano music being played by our organist, Dixie Detgen.

Be Thou My Vision

Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart;

Naught be all else to me, save that thou art;

Thou my best thought, by day or by night,

Waking or sleeping, thy presence my light.

Be thou my Wisdom, and thou my true Word;

I ever with thee and thou with me, Lord;

Thou and thou only, first in my heart,

Great God of heaven, my treasure thou art.

Great God of heaven, my victory won,

May I reach heaven’s joys, O bright heaven’s Sun!

Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,

Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

Sermon: Jesus is the Light of the World

John 8:12

 “I am the light of the world.  Whoever follows me won’t walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”

Psalm 27:1

“The Lord is my light and my salvation.  Should I fear anyone?”

Isaiah 60:19

“The sun will no longer be your light by day, nor will the moon shine for illumination by night; the Lord will be your everlasting light; your God will be your glory.”

Matthew 5: 14 & 16

“You are the light of the world.  A city on top of a hill can’t be hidden… Let your light shine before people, so they can see the good things you do and praise your Father who is in heaven”

Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling

Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling, calling for you and for me; see, on the portals he’s waiting and watching, watching for you and for me.

Come home, come home, you who are weary, come home; earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling, calling, O sinner, come home!

Why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading, pleading for you and for me?  Why should we linger and heed not his mercies, mercies for you and for me?

Come home, come home, you who are weary, come home; earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling, calling, O sinner, come home!

Time is now fleeting, the moments are passing, passing from you and from me; shadows are gathering, death-beds are coming, coming for you and for me.

Come home, come home, you who are weary, come home; earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling, calling, O sinner, come home!

O for the wonderful love he has promised, promised for you and for me? Though we have sinned, he has mercy and pardon, pardon for you and for me.

Come home, come home, you who are weary, come home; earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling, calling, O sinner, come home!
